Lillian Osborne High School is a Canadian high school located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in the Terwillegar community. The school is operated by the Edmonton Public School System, and it offers a wide variety of educational opportunities for students, including: International Baccalaureate, and Fine Arts. The school has an enrollment of approximately 1000 students. The school is named after Edmonton's first female school teacher, Lillian Osborne.

Programs

International Baccalaureate Program

Lillian Osborne is one of several schools in the district offering an International Baccalaureate diploma program.[1]

Athletics

Lillian Osborne has an established athletics program and currently has teams for Soccer, Volleyball, Cheerleading, Basketball, Badminton,and Handball. Discussion of a Rugby, Football and a Swim team are also underway, and additional sports teams are expected to be created as the school develops. All of the teams at the school are doing incredibly well for having started up in 2010. The Cheer team won small varsity provincials along with many other first place trophies in 2010. The Handball team was city champions in the same year. Badminton singles took silver in 2010.

Clubs

Programs run by students, for students, are important and widespread and give students the opportunity to organize students' union events such as Pajama Day, Lillian Osborne Magazine Club, Halloween, Christmas, Photography Club, Young Life, Intramurals, and many more. There are also opportunities for students to create their own clubs after they receive permission from a teacher. There are also many clubs led by teachers but are student run. Clubs like Student Council, which plans events for the students in the school, Yearbook Club, Speech and Debate, Improv Club and many more.

Fine Arts

The school has a jazz band, concert band, musical theater, visual arts, drama, graphic design, animation, and webdesign programs. The musical theatre class performed Alice in Wonderland and the open drama production performed Peter Pan in 2010. In 2011 the musical theatre class performed The Wiz and the open drama production performed the Hunchback of Notre Dame in April. The various bands perform and have concerts nights at the school frequently.
